Phil began learning a variety of instruments at primary school (including guitar, piano and recorder) before taking up double bass at age 12.
Since graduation with a BMus and LRAM from the Royal Academy of Music he spent many years performing in nearly allof London's top theatres and concert halls with a variety of top industry names (including Elaine Paige, Glenn Close, Hugh Jackman and Jonathan Pryce to name a few) and has performed on several major tours at most of the UK's top touring theatres.
He has been featured on several recordings, including sessions at Abbey Road and a Rimmel London TV advert with Kate Moss!
In 2002 he qualified as a classroom music teacher and has over a decade of experience as a head of department, musical director and university/college lecturer in musical theatre.
Along this Phil spent almos 5 years a a Rock Choir leader, including leading a recording session with 150+ singers at Abbey Road (complete with a world class string quartet), plus stage performances at several arenas (including a sold out o2) and even Wembley Stadium.
He now works freelance as a choir leader, workshop leader, vocal coach, piano teacher and bassist in a range of settings and styles.
In addition, he has provided sound and PA equipment (including running events) for a range of school and choir performances and even re-wired/upgraded several schools AV equipment to fit increasingly tight budgets (using his extensive experience in live performance and educational environments).
